The Tree House Yoga Studio is a gem nestled in the peaceful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Columbus, North Carolina. Each season brings a new view from the private yoga studio:  Winter opens up the eyes to the neighboring pasture with a little white barn, horses grazing, and the nearby mountains.  In Spring and Summer, we are enveloped in a canopy of green leaves creating a natural sanctuary with the accompaniment of birds singing and water flowing.  In Fall, before the trees surrender their leaves, we are witness to warm golds, bright yellows, and vibrant reds that only this time of year brings.

Join Registered Yoga Teacher Lori Corda as she guides you through stress-reducing, yet energizing practices.  Lori imparts awareness of the proper alignment of the body, allowing for deeper poses that improve the strength of the muscles and bones, increase flexibility, and reduce stress on the joints while freeing the breath.  Since the classes are relatively small, no more than 6 students at a time for the inside studio; 8 outside on the Yoga deck,  she is able to bring her close attention to each individual, giving them modifications or more challenging variations.

Gentle Yoga – A Yoga class designed for beginners, Seniors and those seeking a more gentle class.

Level 1  & 1.5–  A more advanced class than Gentle Yoga,  but still designed for beginners, seniors and those who are interested in a slower practice.  This class begins with standing warm-ups and standing poses and ends with seated poses.  Unlike the higher level classes, students do not move up and down from the floor.  However, the added 1.5 gives the more advanced Level 1 students a chance to do 1-3 rounds of full sun salutations.

Level 2 – A class for those who have practiced yoga before as well as beginners free of injuries and those who pick up physical movements fairly easily.  The class will be taught in the vinyasa style – flowing; connecting the poses;  incorporating traditional Sun Salutations (movement up and down from the floor).

Level 3 – A challenging class for the individual who has a strong Yoga practice.  The class will be taught in the vinyasa style

Open Level – A class designed for those who have practiced before (those who are familiar with the poses; not for beginners).  The class will be taught in the vinyasa style.  There will be more cueing involved in this class with modifications given for those who need it as well as more advanced movements.

Core, Strengthen & Stretch – An overall body conditioning class with an emphasis on the core utilizing Yoga, Pilates, and traditional exercises.  Work is done standing and on the floor (hands and knees and on the back).

The best yoga class I have ever attended. In the past I always felt the need to protect myself from injury . While still reaping the benefits of stretching and strengthening the flow and timing from one position to another was perfection. Lori was attentive to all her students and gently corrected us as needed. Will definitely make her class a part of my weekly health maintenance.

I have been attending yoga classes at Yoga at the Tree House for twelve years. Lori possesses a deep understanding of yoga philosophy, as well as the physical and mental aspects of the practice. I've benefited greatly from her expertise. She does a great job of sequencing each class so they are not repetitious and encourages you to listen to your body and make adjustments as needed. Lori also has a genuine connection with each student on a personal level. I encourage anyone who has not attended her classes to give it a try. I believe you will be surprised how it can boost your mental and physical abilities.Jody

Lori has a unique gift in her ability to make yoga totally accessible to everyone—including this 64 yo who had never before tried (too intimidated!). Her focus on form, explanation of what we are doing and why in her cheerful, easy demeanor topped off with supreme patience… she truly is the ideal teacher.Honestly, no one has helped me more in my recovery from a fractured neck than Lori. My doctors were wonderful, my PTs wonderful, but the overall most good has come from my yoga practice with Lori. I am better now than before the accident! And I will always, always be grateful. …Namaste, Lori!

Lori is phenomenal; one of the best instructors that I have had. She is an excellent teacher with personalized instruction for each student in the class. Her passion and caring flow through her teachings. Yoga on the deck with the surrounding beauty of the trees, frogs, and birds add to the experience, making it one of a kind.

Being my first time ever, I was a little nervous. Lori was incredibly gracious and welcoming, and her instruction was easy to follow. She was so encouraging and I appreciated the ease in which she helped! I am looking forward to taking more classes regularly and could not be happier that we chose the right teacher!

Lori has been an excellent teacher and role model. Her style of teaching is always encouraging as well as congenial. She keenly observes her students and tailors her sessions to their ability. Each class is somewhat different, so it never gets boring. Lori explains the purpose of each pose, and encourages students to improve at every class. She is concerned for student safety and gives tips on adjusting poses to accommodate any pre-existing medical conditions. She is as adept at teaching all levels of ability from novice to expert. Those who are looking for a great yoga experience need look no further.

Lori is the epitome of a good teacher (and I say this as a professional teacher, myself): she is conscientious, present, well-prepared, happy, and clear. This is why we all keep coming back! Would highly recommend to anyone of any level.

Wonderful yoga classes in a beautiful outdoor setting with a thoughtful and excellent teacher who knows so much about how the body works and is able to adapt each position to her students’needs. Lori has worked so hard to adapt her teaching through the pandemic and is offering a remote and on demand option to her classes.

Best yoga classes! Lori is great, very knowledgeable. Understands the individual needs of her students, the movement of the human body, is good at structuring a class to her students’ level, and giving alternative approaches to meet their individual needs. Beautiful and relaxing environment. I had been doing yoga for years in a large city and with Lori for approximately 5 years in Tryon, NC. Her classes are as challenging as you want them to be. The best instructor I have had the pleasure to work with.

Equestrians welcome!

Are you ready for my Aha! Moment of the day? I took a private session with Ray Berta this afternoon. He pointed out that when my horse is tracking right, I tend to lean a little left, and when I ask my horse to slow down, I lean back. I should always be centered and square on the horse’s back. So he came over and positioned my upper body. It was EXACTLY the way you readjust me (every time!) in Warrior 1! So I said, “Oh, it’s just like yoga.” Well, the guy beamed! He said it’s exactly like yoga. Then he told me to drop the reins, and he proceeded to move my horse around, left, right, spin (not that fast, mind you), and I had to ride from my core only, with the horse, and not get jerked when he made a sudden move. A trainer I used to ride with, two years ago, had done the same exercise with me, and I was all over the place. Today, I stuck most of the time. I found that if I put my arms to my side, like in tadasana, I was more balanced and stronger. Ray said I had a good core, but I’m not using it when I ride–or at least, not using it properly. If I didn’t use it at all, I’d fall off! LOL! Anyway, the point is that I don’t think I’d have been able to stick with this exercise if it weren’t for your classes! Yay!
